Privacy Policy
Effective September 12, 2026
Burn Rate is built around a simple idea: your data is yours. This policy explains the information stored on your device, optional iCloud sync, and the subscription information processed by Apple and RevenueCat.
What the app does
Burn Rate estimates your total daily energy expenditure from the weight and dietary-energy data already stored in Apple Health. All calculations happen on your device.
What we collect
Burn Rate does not collect your Health measurements or Journal content on developer-operated servers. Apple and RevenueCat process subscription information as described below.
- No Burn Rate account or sign-up.
- No advertising or cross-app tracking.
- RevenueCat processes purchase information to provide subscription functionality and subscription analytics.
- No servers of ours ever receive your weight, dietary-energy data, or anything derived from them.
Health data
With your permission, Burn Rate reads weight and dietary energy from Apple Health. It does not add, edit, or delete those measurements. Burn Rate stores a local daily summary of these measurements to calculate your estimates and populate widgets. Burn Rate does not send these measurements or summaries to the developer or RevenueCat, or use them for advertising or analytics. You can review or revoke access at any time in Health › Sharing › Apps › Burn Rate.
Your data on this device
Plans, private Journal notes, tags, and ignore choices are stored locally on your device. Ignore choices affect only Burn Rate calculations; they never change the original Apple Health samples. You can delete this Burn Rate data at any time in Settings → Storage → Delete all data. Deleting the app removes its local storage but does not cancel a subscription or necessarily remove copies held in iCloud. Data stored in Apple Health stays in Health and is governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.
iCloud sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud sync (a Pro feature), your plans, private Journal notes, tags, and ignore choices are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account so your other devices can read them. Only your Apple Account can access that data—we cannot. Raw Apple Health samples and the local daily measurement cache are not synced by Burn Rate. Your plans can include starting and goal weights and a saved TDEE estimate, and these plan values can sync with your Journal notes, tags, and ignore choices. Apple Health manages any separate syncing of its original measurements. iCloud storage is provided by Apple and governed by Apple's terms and privacy policy.
Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple. The app uses RevenueCat to manage subscription access and purchase status. RevenueCat receives purchase history, transaction information, and subscription status to validate purchases, restore access, provide subscription functionality, and perform subscription analytics. Subscription requests also include an app user identifier and technical information such as the app version, device model, operating system, preferred languages, and Apple's vendor identifier for the device when available.
The app does not provide RevenueCat with your name, Health measurements, plans, Journal notes, tags, or ignore choices. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for more information about its handling of this information.
Children
The app is not directed at children. It does not require a personal profile or collect children’s Health data on developer-operated servers.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version ships with the app and the effective date above is revised.
